I bought a LG 42" Plasma TV and DSTV HD PVR Decoder from BIRDELLS in Eastgate Mall on 11 Nov for R15,000.
The salesman, Brett, quoted me over R6,000-00 to install the decoder. I went elsewhere as the going rate is R1,200. I had it installed on the 20 Nov.
The unit was faulty on installation. I took the unit to Multi Choice in Edenvale to be checked. They told me it was faulty and had to be replaced. I phoned BIRDELLS who had no stock to replace it with, but PROMISED me that they would refund my money if I brought in the original slip as it had to be sent to H.O. for the refund. Believing this, I went ahead and purchased a decoder from Multi Choice.
When I went to BIRDELLS on Monday with their faulty decoder, the manager, Gerald, stated that he did not stand behind anything his staff had promised me, and said he would NOT REFUND me. When I got upset he told me that besides not refunding me, he did not care if I never purchased from his shop again!!
The decoder is still with him, and I am out of pocket. Point here is that once BIRDELLS have banked your money, don't expect any after sales service, the staffs promises mean nothing as far as the manager is concerned.
Note that this complaint was lodged in November last year. We are now in March, 2009, nearly 6 months later and I still have not received my promised refund. After talking to Multichoice, I was informed that Birdells or Audio Vision as they now call themselves, (Iwonder why), are not agents or resellers of theirs. Thay therefore cannot help me in this matter..

BEWARE!! NO AFTER SALES SERVICE HERE, ALSO NO REFUNDS!!!! |

Audiovision Liquidated.
Audio vision was liquidated on the 1st June 2009. Apparently there were four shops nationally that were closed down.
I hope that the article posted by Mrs Barnard on this site persuaded many ‘wood be’ consumers from purchasing from this outlet.
Mrs Barnard had been fighting this outlet in Eastgate Mall for the past 7 months, trying to recover the money owed to her from the owner, Gerald Pike. |
